Montana is a big state

Wednesday & Thursday, July 28 & 29

On Wednesday we drove 185 miles from Malmstrom AFB to Reed Point, MT. We spent the night at the Old West RV Park there. It is a Passport America, and I am sorry Terry but I didn't take any pictures. It is a very small park just off of I90. There is nothing fancy there, it is just a place to overnight. There really isn't much of a town of Reed Point either. The weather is hot again, in the 90's. Around 5:00 PM we had a pretty good thunder storm go through. One minute it was nice and sunny and the next the clouds crested the hills and the sky was dark. We had some good thunder and lightening. In about a hour it was over and the skies cleared. This park doesn't have cable TV nor do you get anything over the air so Bill put the satellite up. I have run out of books so I needed something to do.

Thursday morning we got up and were not in a big hurry as we didn't have far to go. We drove 116 miles to the town of Garryowen. It is right off the Little Big Horn Battlefield. The drive was uneventful until we got within 20 miles of the park we were going to. A flat bed truck was carrying a thresher (or something like that) and we had to pull to the right while he pulled to the left. We were both going the same direction on the interstate. When he passed us a rock flew into our windshield on the passenger side. We now have a big star on our windshield. Of course we are outside of a tiny town and will have to go back to Billings or onto Miles City to get it repaired. Tomorrow Bill is going to call a couple of places to see what can be done. Bummer. I hope we can get the star repaired without having to replace the entire windshield as that will require getting the glass special ordered.

We are at the 7th Ranch RV Camp. It is a Good Sam Park and just outside of the Little Big Horn Battlefield. Tomorrow morning I will take some pictures of the park and the windshield.

After getting setup we drove into "town" to the Custer Battlefield Museum. It is a private museum. The entire town is the museum, a gas station, a Sub-way, and a post office! In fact, it is for sale! The museum was interesting but you were not allowed to take pictures inside. I did take a picture of their tomb of the unknown soldier out front. See the slideshow.
