Blue Ridge Parkway

Sunday, Sept 5

Today is Sunday, that means I have to remember my medication. I only have to do this once a week but sometimes I don't remember what day of the week it is! We were surprised that some of the people pulled out of the campground today. We plan on watching the fun tomorrow when most everyone will leave. I made our reservations for when we leave. We plan on heading over to Mount Airy, NC or as it is better known, Mayberry. We will be staying in the Mayberry Campground from Tuesday until Friday. We should have fun there.

Today we decided to take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, at least the part that is down here. The parkway is over 400 miles long and we are only going to drive a very small portion of that. Here are some pictures I took along the way.

We enjoyed the ride but don't think we would take the motorhome on this road. There are some places where the tree limbs grow over the road that would probably hit the top of the RV. It is mostly one lane in each direction. There are a couple of places with a passing lane and there are many turnouts.

We drove until we found a road that we could get back to Waynesville on. As we drove through town we saw a seafood restaurant that had a full parking lot. That generally means the locals like the food there. We were seated right away and the food was good. We got our first hush puppies of this trip here. The name was The Captains Bay. Bill had grilled salmon and I had fried catfish. Yum Yum. I always prefer a local place to a chain restaurant.

Once we got back to the rig we didn't do much. We did make plans for tomorrow. We plan on driving to Maggie Valley and checking out a few stores and fruit stands we saw. I'll let you know. Bye for now.
