Start of the Labor Day Weekend

Friday, Sept 3

If I had my brain together I never would have had us moving on the Friday of a National Holiday. Fortunately, the traffic here wasn't as bad as the traffic in Calif. In fact, it was non-existent.

I didn't sleep too good last night. My legs, feet and back were too sore. I couldn't get comfortable. I finally got up around 5:00 AM and stayed up. I probably bother Bill a bit and kept him awake too. Since I was up so early we were able to get on the road early. We are headed over to Creekwood Farms outside of Waynesville and in the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. Here are some pictures I took the last time we were here in 2008.

It is not anywhere near as empty today. I will take pictures this weekend and show it. All the campgrounds around here are full for the weekend. Tomorrow they are having a pancake breakfast and if we get up in time we are planning on going. They are also having music tomorrow night.

I took a few pictures on the road here. We drove on a few one lane mountain roads that were a little nerve racking. (One of my readers has suggested that what I thought was ivy was actually kudzu. It more than liekly is. Thank you Gypsy). This route was shorter but probably took as long as the longer route would have. Enjoy the pictures I took today.

Are you sure the vine isn't kudzu, rather than ivy. Years ago some intelligent American brought kudzu over from Japan thinking it would stop erosion. Well, it now covers the entire southeast and is horrible stuff, especially in fall when it dies off. There is no getting rid of it, although there are many uses than can be made from it - paper, fibers, etc.
