Well, it turns out that we really didn't do anything on Wednesday. We did decide to go out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We both had biscuits and gravy. I was actually a little disappointed in it. My biscuits were a little hard. I wonder if they put them in the microwave or not? We had thought about going to a couple of places but they were both over 30 miles away and the sky was filled with dark clouds. We thought it was going to start raining at any minute. It finally did rain in the later afternoon. The sun had actually broke through but the rain came down anyway. Once it started it kept up most of the evening. It would start and stop, then start and stop. So that was our day
Thursday morning we woke up to more rain. Oh No! We are suppose to leave this morning! We did wait it out and finally were able to pack up. This campground (the Al Sihah Shrine Park in Macon, GA a Passport America Park) only has power and water sites so we had to stop at a dump station before leaving. It was a bit muddy at the dump site but Bill got the job done. The campground is a little odd. Some of the sites are regular back-in and some of them require you to parallel park! When we got here there were only a couple of the side-to-side sites were in use and there were about 3 in a row empty. We were able to get in the middle one with no problem. We weren't exactly level but soon fixed that. The place was nice and I would stop here again. I didn't get a picture of it. Every time I thought about taking one it was raining.
The road north to Atlanta wasn't bad. We stopped at a Flying J to get fuel. Earlier this year Pilot bought out Flying J so they are undergoing some changes in how they do things. We like to stop there as they have RV fuel stations that are easy to get in and out of. I had to go into the store today to start the pump instead of paying at the pump so it took a little longer than normal. Oh and getting here was a mess. We had to make a left off of the freeway and the light didn't seem to be working right. We sat there for about 7 minutes and it still didn't turn green for us. Bill finally made a right turn from the left lane and we went down the road until we could pull through a parking lot and get back on the road going the right way. It looked like the light had finally changed after we did that. Oh well.
We are now parked at the Stone Mountain Park Family Campground. Our site looks across the road at a lake and we can also see the back of Stone Mountain.
Tomorrow we plan on heading into Atlanta and see some sites there. I think we are going to the World of Coca-Cola, CNN headquarters, The Varsity Drive-in, and possibly Olympic Park. Whew, I hope my legs hold up.
So here are the picture of the campground at Stone Mountain.
