Thursday & Friday, October 21 & 22
On Thursday we stayed in as we didn't have any particular place to go visit. We did do some shopping on base and I stocked up on fresh veggies. We did some cleanup inside in preparation of moving on Friday morning. I read a book in the afternoon, didn't I mention that a chunk of the shopping we did was to buy some new books for me?!? I looked over some of the brochures I picked up in ITT for Savanna and also did some research on the internet.
I plan on going to The Lady & Son's restaurant in Savanna. They don't accept reservations but do have this weird system where you come in the morning and get a seating time for lunch or dinner. I think we are going to go to lunch. It is basically the same menu but cheaper. I guess I am going to have to get up early for this! There are also a few other places we plan on going to, maybe even take a tour.
Friday morning we got up and casually got ready to go. We really didn't have far to travel and traveled exactly 100 miles today. The drive wasn't bad and part of it was on an interstate (I95). Finding the campground was a bit of a challenge. We are parked in the Hardeeville RV park outside of Hardeeville, SC. It is about 12 miles north of Savanna, where we will explore tomorrow. After we got hooked up we drove back into town to get our mail at the post office. Only one bill in the bunch, aren't we lucky! (Actually they tend to come in the first part of the month). The campground is full of trees and laid out kinda funny. It is a Passport America park and for 50 amp is $21 a night. Not bad for being so close to a big city.
I made mini turkey burgers for dinner tonight along with some potato salad I picked up at the grocery store, beans and hominy. They were good. We had them on mini Hawaiian bread rolls.
Here are a couple of pictures of the campground.
