Happy Veterans Day!!!

Thursday, Nov 11

Today is Veteran's Day.  I think we should honor our veterans every day of the year because without them we would not be living free in this great nation.  Remember, all gave some but some gave all.  Thank you to my father, my husband, my cousin, my nephew and every veteran of the US Armed Forces.

We woke up to a light mist falling.  The weather guys said last night it wasn't suppose to rain until tonight but it started early.  We packed up and got on the road before too much fell.  It was cloudy and rainy most of the way to Amarillo, TX.  We were originally going to stop in Texola, OK, just before the border but decided if it was going to rain heavily tomorrow it was best to be stopped.  Here is what we saw out the window for most of the drive -

As we passed Groom, TX we saw this out the window -

It is a 19 story cross built by a church alongside I-40.  The smaller crosses are part of a group of statues but we didn't stop to check it out.

We pulled into the Oasis RV Resort around 3:00 PM.  This is the latest we have been on the road in quite a long time.  The folks at check-in said it is suppose to rain tonight and possibly even a little snow.  It is suppose to get below freezing tonight!  We need to drop down further before it gets too cold.  We do plan on spending 3 nights here, they have a pay for 2 get a free night.  It looks like we won't be doing too much tomorrow if it rains as hard as they say it will.  We do plan on visiting the Palo Dura Canyon, which is called the Grand Canyon of Texas.  I also want to have a meal at the Big Texan steakhouse.

We are starting to get a lot of lightning and thunder already but not a lot of rain yet.  If you listen to one news channel they say no snow but the next one says light dusting.  Can't they make up their minds?  So we will have to see what happens overnight and into the morning to see what our plans will be.

That is all.  Enjoy the pictures.
