I finally escaped, I mean was released, from the hospital today. It took them about 4 hours to process all necessary paperwork. I guess the thing that was taking all the time was the prescription for my blood thinner medication. It required pre-authorization from Tricare and the hospital wanted to make sure that taken care of before they would let me out. The didn't want me to miss a dose. It is a self injectable medication. Since I take a shot every week it won't be any problem for me.
The drive home was long and a bit uncomfortable. We drove through McDonald's to grab a bite for lunch. When we were kids a treat for us when we were sick was a Happy Meal. I decided I wanted that for lunch. What a treat. It wasn't even too bad on my diet. Of course I haven't been eating too much these days. That hospital food isn't the greatest. I know they try but the veggies are always overcooked.
Bill has been great about taking care of me. I have this cold water pump that recycles the cold water around the wound. It helps with the swelling. Tomorrow the countinuous motion machine is being delivered and the visiting nurse is coming too. I'm not sure what they are coming for but I guess I will find out when they get here. I start physical therapy 3 times a week starting next week.
My scar isn't as straight this time as the last one. This time there is a definate twist to it. According to Bill the doctor's told him my knee was in really bad shape, worse than they expected. One thing I have found out is that my blood pressure was good the entire time I was in the hospital. I will have to get a copy of my records to show my general practitioners. Maybe she can take me off of some of my blood pressure drugs.
So everything is going fine now. I will have to work hard on my therapy to get my knee in shape. I think it will be a couple of years before I have anything else replaced. Give me some time to forget about the surgery.
Have a good day

YEA!!! I am glad it is all over.
The continuous motion machine is fun. I would fall asleep with it going. It and the PT helped me to get full motion back real fast.
I am taking Jan 31st off when Cindy is having her surgery as I will be here waiting for a call from mom.
