Back from the Campout

We had a great weekend for a campout.  The weather was great.  It was a bit cool when we arrived on Wednesday but it warmed up nicely.  It was a bit of an odd weekend with people arriving on three different days.  There were a total of 17 rigs in camp with 11 arriving on Wednesday, 4 arriving on Friday and 2 arriving on Thursday, including the Wagonmaster.

Wednesday we pulled into the campground all prepared to surprise everyone with our new rig but the only ones there were Terry and Lydia!  Guess we got too early of a start.  Those that arrived after us were surprised.  They thought the rig sitting next to Terry was a stranger.  Wednesday night we had a spaghetti dinner with a few other couples.  We had plenty of food and good company.

Thursday night we decided to head over to Red Lobster for dinner to enjoy some lobster.  I like their cheddar biscuits and salad.  I don't particularly like lobster so I gave mine to Bill and ate the shrimp and part of his steak.  We did a little shopping and visiting during the day.  I got my first sunburn of the season as I forgot to pack my sun hat in the rig.  It must still be out in the shed.

Friday was a busy day.  I decided to have the open house on Friday as most people were in camp and we have so much food on Saturday anyway.  I had ordered two sandwich trays from Costco so Lydia and I went to pick them up.  We also had a veggie tray, chips, dips, salsa, soda, wine and beer.  Lunch was served at noon.  I think everyone enjoyed their meal.  We got a lot of nice comments on the rig.

For dinner we drove over to the mall and ate at Pat and Oscar's.  I wasn't too impressed with the food.  I was still full from lunch so I had a soup and salad dinner.  The breadsticks were pretty good.

Saturday morning was absolutely beautiful.  Breakfast was served and it was a good continental breakfast.  Thanks to the folks who provided that.  The rest of the day was spent visiting, shopping, playing cards, resting, crafting and whatever else you wanted to do.  We had grilled steaks for dinner, which the club provided.  Everyone else brought the side dishes.  The steaks were really big so Bill and I shared one.  I put the other one in the freezer for another day.

Sunday found everyone pulling out early.  We headed for home with no problems.  Our open house was a success and the rig is in good working order.

Over the weekend we learned that a good friend had passed.   She was in her 80's and had dementia.  She had also had a couple of strokes.  Carolyn was a lovely person and she will be missed.  We attended her viewing on Wednesday afternoon and said our good-byes.  Afterwards we went to a local Italian restaurant that the family said was one of her favorites.  Bill and I also love it and try to eat there at least once a year.  It is called Roma d' Italia in Tustin, CA.  The food was very good and there was way too much so we had the leftovers for lunch.

I hope you have been having a good time.  Bye for now.
