When we got up this morning we saw that it hadn’t rained
last night but it did look like it could rain any minute. Turned out that we followed the storm; but
never really caught it. The road was wet
but we only got a little rain on our windshield. My car, on the other hand, got filthy, and we
had just washed it a day or so ago.
We had about 160 miles to go to get to our stop for the
weekend. We couldn’t get into the place
we are staying for the Little League World’s series until Monday so we needed
someplace to stay for the weekend. We
are in Cooksburg, PA at the Deer Meadow campground. When we got here the place was kinda empty
but soon it started filling up with the weekend crowd. We drove about 15 miles into town to a
grocery store. This place is out in the
boonies so there really wasn’t anything closer.
We got the things we needed and
headed back. As soon as we got back I
fixed dinner. I tried something
new. I boiled some sweet potatoes and
for the last few minutes I tossed in some chopped up apples. I drained most of the water, added a little
butter, some brown sugar and a bit of dark Karo syrup. It was really tasty. I will have to add this to my regular list of
things to make. I also fixed some pork
chops to go with it and some fresh steamed broccoli.
That was about it for the day. We relaxed for the evening after Terry and
Bill helped our next door neighbor fix his awning on his “new to him”
trailer. Making friends is a good
thing.
