Moving Day

Monday, Sept 3, 2012

Since we had 99 miles to go today we didn't start packing up and unhooking until close to noon.  Luckily the rain had let up and was only drizzling.  The drive was uneventful and we made it to Pine Grove.  We did have an incident on the highway though.  We were driving along and traffic came to a stop.  Everyone was pulling into the left lane so we assumed there was a problem up ahead in the right lane, where we were.  We pulled into the left lane and sat with the traffic.  As we were sitting there we saw a little white car who thought it was his responsibility to keep anyone from getting past him so he was riding the center lane and would pull to the right when we saw someone coming to block them.  Soon we spotted a Highway Patrol person sitting in their car with lights flashing on the right side of the road.  She got out of her car and motioned for us to pull into the right lane and drive there.  OK, we did.  A couple of other cars jumped out of the lane in front of us, including that little white car.  OK, so we are traveling about 30 MPH in the right lane when about half a mile up the road a red car pulled out of the stopped left lane, directly in front of us, and STOPPED!  Bill hit the brakes and the horn but all the guy did was flip us off.  This guy thought it was his job to stop everyone from being in that lane.  Yes, about a mile up the road the lane ended due to construction but we were told to us the right lane by the officer!  Anyway, he wouldn't move (lucky for him Bill got the rig stopped in time) so Bill pulled onto the right shoulder and went around him.  So did a bunch of people behind us.  I can't believe how dumb some people are.

Once my heart rate settled back down we proceeded down the road and into the campground with no further problems.  We got to our site and tried to level the coach.  It wouldn't level.  I was surprised at the site didn't look that out of level.  We tried adding a stack of our rubber pads (note to my Father, they don't work to hold up the rig in this manner.  If you put 3-4 together the jack pad just squashes them).  Because we couldn't level from right to left in the rear one of the front jacks wouldn't come down.  Eventually we left it that way deciding to look into it tomorrow.

Bill hooked everything up and then I tried to do some laundry.  No power to the washing machine.  Crud!  The power monitor said I had 50 amps.  We turned the power thingy for the washing machine off and on but still on power.  Bill went out and unplugged the power out there, turned the switch off and on, and plugged back in.  Still no power in the back.  Eventually the power surge indicated that we were only getting one leg of power.  If Bill took the power surge protector off I got power to the washing machine but not to the microwave and clock up front.  I called the office but their maintenance help had already left for the day.  We tried to plug into the site next to us but our extension cord wasn't long enough.  So we just used what we needed for the night.

I fixed turkey burgers for dinner and they were good.  We settled in for our 10 day stay.  It did rain again during the night and everything feels damp since it never really dries out.

Bye for now,
