We only had plans for the late afternoon/evening so we didn't do a lot during the day. We did put some stuff away in preparation for moving on Monday.
We drove into Durango late in the afternoon and visited the train museum at the Durango train station. It is a very nice museum and we spent about an hour visiting. They have more than just train stuff there.
I have been meaning to take a picture of this statue every time we are at the train station but I finally was able to do it. I like this statue.
After we finished at the museum we headed up to the Bar D Chuckwagon Dinner and Theatre. It was fun. They assign seats based on when you show up to pay for your tickets. We got there before they opened at 5:30 PM so we got first row, center seats. You get to walk around the grounds before dinner. They have gift shops, a little train ($2 to ride), a chapel you can get married in, and other things. We listened to some Cowboy Poetry in the chapel before heading to the dinner area. They have serving dinner down to a science. When you pay the price is based on what you choose. A choice of BBQ beef or chicken, a combo plate of both, or a steak. We chose the BBQ chicken. You also get cowboy beans, a baked potato, applesauce, a roll and a piece of spice cake. You can have water, lemonade or coffee to drink. There are about 250 people there tonight and they had everyone through the line in about 20 minutes. We got to go first, Yeah! The food was good.
After dinner there is a musical performance. It is old time cowboy songs. The group, The Bar D Wranglers, were very good and we really enjoyed that portion of the evening. They sang many of our favorites. My biggest complaint is that it was too short. We would go back.
That was our day. I know Bill enjoyed the calls from his kids. I called my Dad when we got into town as the phone reception is not great in the campground. Here are all the pictures.
