Fort Casper, WY

Aug 7 - 8, 2013    Wednesday - Thursday

We moved further West to Casper, WY.   We planned on stopping at a Flying J gas station but when we got there they only had about 4 diesel lanes and they were packed with trucks.  We decided not to get in line with that mess.  We are staying at Fort Casper RV Park (a Passport America Park). We are here for 2 nights. The rate is only $20 a night so it is a deal. We are parked toward the front in the back-in sites. A lot of the people are permanent people. I think a lot of them work in the oil companies around here. The park is behind the Fort Casper Museum. I thought we might check it out but we have decided not to. There isn't much else around here.

Thursday we drove over to the mall to check it out.  Terry had told us that they had an RV company that sold RV's in the mall.  I guess in the last couple of years things have changed.  The area where the RV's used to be is going to be a Dick's Sporting Goods store.  We walked around anyway and I picked up a Hallmark Ornament for my Mom.  We drove around and checked out the way out of here and the gas stations. We located a couple we are going to try.  We also found another RV placed and checked to see if they had some stuff Bill wanted.  He said they were too expensive so we didn't buy anything.  We went back to the campground after that.  In the evening, just as I was cooking dinner the weather sirens went off.  We are having another severe thunderstorm warning.  First the wind starts blowing really hard.  A lot of people get caught with their awnings out and have to jump up to grab them.  Then the lightening and then the rain.  We decided to just wait it out in the rig.  We didn't get any hail and the rain wasn't too bad.

So that was all for the last two days.
