We moved from Ft Meade, MD to Lewisberry, PA today. It was a drive of about 100 miles but we wanted to be close to Hershey, PA to go to the World's Largest RV Show. We have gone here whenever we are in the area. It is a big RV show, has a lot of dealers and a lot of RV stuff to check out and buy. We didn't spend any money except to get in the show and to get some sherbet to share.
We are currently parked at the Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground in Lewisberry, PA. We only have 50 amp electric here but since we are only here for 2 nights, that is fine. Because of the trees we don't have satellite TV but are getting 6 channels over the air. I will have to catch Outlander when we get to Lancaster. We are parked right across from the camp host and the bathhouse.
We got parked, had lunch and headed to Hershey. It was about 25 miles away. The drive was nice as we were soon parked and headed in. I don't know how many rigs we climbed in and out of but it was a lot. We stopped at all the major manufacturers of Class A's. Disappointed that Monaco wasn't there and Holiday Rambler only had the Ambassador there. All the big boys had bath and a half, which I think is a waste of space. Most of the kitchens had dishwashers in them, another waste (I can say that as I have one and only use it weekly to exercise it). Storage in the kitchen area was sorely lacking, even in the 45 ft rigs. I did check out some interiors and have decided that I want to put tile like this in our kitchen and take out the mirrors I currently have -
I also still want a residential refrigerator. I hope to get that next year. I saw many different models in the rigs and have some ideas.
A lot of the big rigs don't have carpet in them anymore, it is all tile. I like that too,
After looking at all the rigs we went into the arena to check out the "stuff". Didn't find a lot we were interested in. They had the campgrounds, junk, LED lights, insurance, etc, but there was a lot of it. We looked through the Camping World area but they hadn't brought the things we were looking for. We sat in the area and shared an ice cream sherbet from Turkey Hill that was good and cold.
By the time we were done, it was after 5:00 PM so we decided to head into Harrisburg and have dinner at a place we have been before. It is called Dodge City Steak House. It was on Restaurant Impossible about 4 years ago. We enjoyed our meal then and stopped in again. The food is still good but they need to do a bit of updating to the decor. It didn't seem like they had as many people for dinner as they did last time. Guess the "new" was worn off.
Back at the campground we took a drive around and found the lake -
This is a very nice state campground. We would stay again.
The weather was good today, not too hot, not too cold. But it started raining about 6:30 AM. The big drops coming off the trees woke us up but we went right back to sleep and stayed in bed until 9:30 AM! That is late for Bill. But we were really tired from all that walking around. It was also cool as the temps dropped down into the low 60's. We haven't seen temps like that in awhile.
So that was our visit to Hershey. Saturday is a resting day. Have fun.
