Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort
Austin, TX
We had a very short drive today, about 80 miles, so we decided to have breakfast out before we took off. We drove over to the Cracker Barrel, so now Janie has had the breakfast and dinner experience there. Bill and I both ordered biscuits and gravy. He had turkey bacon and I had turkey sausage. They were both good. The others had bigger meals. Soon we were headed back to the rigs and getting on our way.
The drive was going smoothly until Janie came on the walkie-talkie and said one of their jacks was down. We all quickly pulled to the side of the road, which was a job in itself. The jack wasn't down but it indicator light and beeper was on. After checking the jack they tried to store it again and everything was fine. The guys will have to look into that one day at this next campground.
When we got to the campground we had a hard time fitting into the driveway. They decided to put us in our spots before we paid and filled out the paperwork. Good idea as another rig tried to come in while we were there and blocked the road. We are just off of I-35 but there isn't too much road noise.
Since we got in fairly early Janie and Rick called Janie's aunt and went to visit her. They will meet us at the restaurant for dinner tonight. We are going to a BBQ place called Salt Lick. It gets good ratings and is very popular. We got there around 5:00 PM and were told the wait was about an hour. It actually was about 1 hour and 15 minutes but we did get seated. Check out all the people waiting.

We finally got seated and placed our orders. Bill and I ordered the Senior plates of pork ribs and brisket. The food was good, but I have had better BBQ. I am not sure it was worth the wait. I guess it is the experience. If you bring your own drinks you can just drink and not care about the wait! Here are our meals -
They do have dessert and since we waited so long we decided to split a blackberry cobbler. They also had pecan pie.
There are two buildings you can eat in. Here is the smoke pit in ours.
It was a fun experience if nothing else. I certainly wouldn't go on a Saturday night again. There were a lot of large parties celebrating graduations and things.
That is all for now. Have a good day.
