Brantley Lake State Park
Carlsbad, NM
Our drive was only 133 miles today, depending on which GPS you looked at. The RV GPS's didn't want us to take US82 over the mountain but wanted us to drive around the mountain and add 50 miles. We decided to take the mountain road. Since we had driven part of it yesterday we knew it wasn't real steep but it was a climb to over 8000 feet. The drive was very nice and scenic. Nobody had any trouble and we all make it to Brantley State Park just north of Carlsbad, NM in no time at all.
The campsites are a bit sparse but are what we expected in the desert. We don't have sewers, just water and 50 amp electric. The Moore's and Kinkelaar's are parked close together in sites 14 & 15, while we are done the road a bit in site 24. We have a lake view from our living room window.

We all took naps this afternoon and rested until dinner. It was Lydia's turn to cook and she made a pasta casserole that was good. She served hot bread and fresh tomatoes with it. Yummy. After dinner we all sat around and decided on our plans for the next couple of days. As I walked back to our site I took some sunset pictures.
It should be nice and dark tonight as there are no lights to hide the stars. And it will be very quiet. Looking forward to a good night's sleep.
That is all. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
