Blue Angel RV Park
Pensacola, FL
Today was separation day. Bill and I were leaving by ourselves and the Kinkelaar's and Moore's were continuing their travels. We would be heading to Pensacola, FL while they were stopping in Mobile, AL then traveling north. It was sad to leave them and it took a bit not to look for people following us down the road.
A strange thing happened when we stopped to fuel the rig. We picked a station just before getting on I-10. Everything was going fine but when Bill started the rig and went to reset the trip meter, he noticed that the odometer was not right. Something happened and the mileage changed. We had over 53,000 miles and the odometer now read 1341 miles. Everything else seemed to be working fine. It did register miles as we started driving so we don't know what happened. Bill is going to contact Freightliner tomorrow morning to see if they have any idea.
We crossed through four states today. We started in Louisiana, drove into Mississippi, then Alabama, and finally Florida. We were able to locate the campground without too much trouble. It is a bit off the beaten track and not on base but it is a nice campground. All that separates the campground from the ocean is a parking lot. We were not able to get a waterfront site but we are in a nice place. There are actually three campgrounds on this base. Two are where we are and one is actually on the base. I think they are all about the same.
It is cooler here than in Louisiana. There is a nice breeze off the water. I think I might even be able to sleep with the windows open tonight.
I fixed some leftover pork roast that I had in the freezer from one of the times I cooked. We had that with stuffing, gravy, and corn. A nice simple meal. I have a few things in the freezer that all I have to do is warm up.
After dinner we walked down to the water and I took the pictures above. Then we decided to drive around a bit. We found the commissary and PX, which are both off base. Then we found the Naval Aviation Museum on base as well as the lighthouse and the other campground. It was dark so I didn't get any pictures. We are going back later this week so I will get some then. The Blue Angels are suppose to be practicing here on Wednesday so we plan on being at the museum to see that. I have to find our some particulars like the time.
Back at the rig we had a nice quiet evening. I hope you had a good day.
