Ft Sam Houston RV Park
San Antonio, TX
It was a fairly short drive today, only about 125 miles. When we were about 50 miles out we stopped at a rest area to wife swap. Lydia rode with Rick and Janie rode with Terry. That put at least one person in each rig that had a military ID card. We made it through the gate with no problem and into the campground. We are parked fairly close to each other.
It was raining when we got here so we decided to take a quick trip to the PX and commissary. The map they gave us isn't very good and we did a tour of the base before finding it. At least we now know where they are.
For Mother's Day we tried to go to a steakhouse but it wasn't open for dinner so we told the guys they got to pick a restaurant today to take us to steak. Terry picked a place along the Riverwalk in San Antonio so off we went. We finally found parking spots and walked to the restaurant. We ate at the Texas Land & Cattle Company. The food was good but the waitress left a bit to desire. She forgot things and was really slow on refills.
After dinner we decided to take a ride cruise. It was only $6 each since we are old. Ha Ha. Our boat driver was good and we enjoyed the trip. Terry, Lydia, Bill and I have been here before. Rick was here many, many years ago but Janie has never been here before. After the tour we headed home. Trying to get to the base was no problem but once we were on it was a long drive to the RV park. I was leading and decided going to the PX and Commissary and going from there was the best idea. We finally made it back to the park and our rigs. Our travels tomorrow will depend on the weather.
