Key West, FL Day 2

Friday, 6/19/2015
Key West, FL

Exploring downtown Key West was on our agenda today.  First we stopped at the ITT (ticket office) to purchase discount tickets for the World Famous Conch Train Tour.

We thought it would be more fun than the on/off trolley.  It was fun and we had a good driver/guide.  Unfortunately the seats were not the most comfortable.  The tour is about 90 minutes and they give you a break, at their tourist trap store, after about 45 minutes.  That helps.  You get a nice overview of the city and get to pass many of the points of interest.  Since it is in the high 80's with humidity it is better than walking,  It would be nice if they could stop at some of the sites for a second or two for people to take a picture.  So here are some of the sites we saw -

Presidential Gates at Little White House

Little White House

Southern most point in the US

Mile marker 0 for US 1

Hemmingway House

Sloppy Joe's Bar
Key West Cemetery

This is a town made for walking and I am not a walker anymore.  You can rent scooters or bikes.

The end of the tour is in Mallory Square so we walked out to the edge and the water.  There was a cruise ship in port.  That means a lot of people trying to get through the stores.

We also walked down to the Custom's House.  There were a couple of statues outside.

We did eat lunch at a place called Red Fish Blue Fish.  I decided to have a cheeseburger since I haven't had one in a long time.  So even though we didn't eat at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville I still had a cheeseburger in paradise!  Most of the fish on the menu was fried so we didn't have any.

Soon we were headed back to the parking lot and our car.  We found one that only cost $10 a day.  It was a bit further out but the ones up close are over $30 a day.

A note to Terry - we didn't see any of your "friends" while there.

So here is the total number of pictures.  Enjoy.
