Starting our return trip

Sunday - Friday, 7/31/2016-8/05/2016
Dayton, OH - Shipshewana, IN

Sunday we spent the day cleaning the rig getting ready to move later in the week.  In the evening we drove to Columbus to the Ohio State Fair to see the Oak Ridge Boys and Kenny Rogers.  It was about an hours drive to get there.  Parking was interesting.  We were able to find a spot in the handicap area after driving around a bit.  We walked around the fair a bit but it was hot and we didn't want to walk much.  After a snack of a funnel cake we found the building the concert was in and found our seats.  Both parts of the show were good.  Kenny Rogers sure looked old.  He has many health problems and sat most of the show.

Since we didn't get back to the base until after midnight, Monday was spent relaxing and finishing our cleanup.

Tuesday night we went with the kid back to the fair to see Dolly Parton.  I was a bit disappointed in her show.  She talked a lot and sang songs that were not hers.  Also, the large screens were not used so we couldn't see very well.

Wednesday we went to the house to spend the last day with everyone.  Aimee's folks made dinner for us and it was very good.  The kids found a condo/townhouse they liked today and started the paperwork.  We are still taking Lola home with us until they get everything settled.  They are doing a rent to buy option.  We saw a video of the place and it looked nice.  A two bedroom split level place.

Lola has a new obsession.  She found the tether ball setup at the base.  Here she is playing and having fun.

Thursday morning we were up early and on the road to Shipshewana, IN.  About an hour into the drive Bill realized he didn't have his phone with him.  It wasn't in the rig anywhere.  I called the campground to leave a message for them to look for it.  I also called the phone a few times but nobody answered.  After we reached our destination I got a call from the person who found the phone.  It was over by the lake.  She is mailing it to my folks house so he will have it when we get there.  If you need to talk to Bill call my phone.  I will send her a thank you gift later.

Our first stop was at the Refrigeration and cooling place.  They looked at the air conditioner and said our second compressor is working.  They said the noise that is there now sounds like the bearings are going.  They are going to call and see if they can get parts.  We will find out next week.

I called a couple of campgrounds and they were all full.  That left our original choice, the Shipshewana Trading Place RV Park.  It is a first come first served place.  When we got there around 2:30 there were a number of sites open.  We got the last back-in site.  The prices are $30 for back-in and $36 for pull-through.  There were a number of pull-through's open.  I thought the flea market was open for the weekend but it is open on Tuesday & Wednesday.  We are here until at least Monday, probably at least Wednesday.

I spent some time re-routing our trip.  We won't be doing a lot of site seeing on the way home.

We went out shopping and saw this -

Amish grocery shopping.

Thursday night we went out to the Blue Gate Restaurant.  They have a buffet, you can order from a menu or get family style served at your table.  I was hot and tired so we ordered from the menu.  It was way too much food and we brought a lot home.

So I am now caught up.  I will do my best to update every day from now on.
