Apple Valley, MN

Friday, Aug 6

Whew! Today was the longest driving day we have had in a long time. Not only that, we also found TRAFFIC! Part of our drive included the loop around Minneapolis/St Paul. On a Friday afternoon around 2:00 PM, no less! It has been a really, really long time since we have been in traffic. I had a headache by the time we got to the campground. Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes and I think we passed half of them on our drive. Question - when is a lake too small to be a lake? When is it a pond or something else?

We are spending the weekend at the Lebanon Hills Campground in Apple Valley, MN. It is about 5 miles south of the Mall of America. This campground is park of a county park and it pretty nice. We have a full hookup site with 50 amp. When I originally called a couple of days ago they didn't have a long site available and were going to fit us into a smaller one. That would mean our car would have to be parked down the road a bit in visitor parking. When we pulled in today they told us they had a couple of changes and had a nice long spot for us. My luck has been pretty good lately, maybe I should buy a powerball ticket.

We spent the rest of the day resting and recovering. I fixed sloppy joes for dinner along with some macaroni salad I picked up at the grocery store yesterday. Bill did take a walk around the campground and took some pictures. Here they are -
