Wednesday & Thursday, Aug 11 & 12
Wednesday we didn't much on these two days as it is so miserable outside. Temps in the 90's and humidity also. It drains you of any energy and desire to leave the air conditioning. Ours has been running constantly for the last few days.
We did take a drive to Tomah, WI which is about 15 miles down the road. We thought we might find some interesting shops or something. There was a cheese store that we checked out but not much more. This is the route we will be using when we leave on Friday morning.
Thursday is prepare to leave day. We decided to go out to breakfast first thing. We picked on place but it turns out they didn't serve breakfast, just coffee and pastry in the morning. We walked across and down the street to the Sparta Diner. Bill had the morning special of 1 egg, 2 sausage links, and a pancake. I had biscuits and gravy with sausage patties. They were really good. Best gravy I have had in a long time. After breakfast we found a laundromat and did that. They didn't really have air conditioning so it was hot but we got it done.
Walmart was our last stop. I got my hair cut and that feels better now. The humid air made it so limp and it had gotten pretty long. We picked up a few things we needed and then headed home. Back here we have done much today. We took a couple of pictures around the town as we went. The campground is close to a local ski area, also owned and operated by Fort McCoy. There are a couple of pictures of it and the paintball course. There are also a couple of pictures of Ben Bikin - a statue in downtown Sparta.
