When we went to bed last night it was raining with thunder and lightning. That continued through most of the night. I woke up around 7:30 AM and we didn't have any power, but that soon came back on. Bill went up front to turn the big heater on and looked out the windows. Here is what he saw -
We are scheduled to be here until Sunday morning so we will have to see how it goes. More later. Bye from snowy Amarillo, Texas.
Later in the morning Bill was saying he woke up and didn't hear rain on the roof he was happy then he looked out the front window. Now he says it is all my fault it snowed! Ha ha. We were going to go to the restaurant here at the campground for breakfast but we decided to stay in and I cooked. It was still snowing and really cold. We hung around the rig for most of the morning; waiting for the snow to melt. Slowly it all melted off the rig and car.
Around 2:00 PM we decided to go have lunch at the Big Texan Steakhouse. It is home to the 72 ounce steak. If you eat it in less than 60 minutes you get your meal free. Of course, you also have to eat a baked potato, salad, roll, and a shrimp cocktail. If you can't finish it you have to pay $72 for the dinner. Actually, you pay first and get a refund if you finish! Nobody was trying this when we were there. The food was good though. Bill had prime rib and I had a BBQ plate with ribs and brisket. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas and was quite pretty.
After that we headed back to the rig. By now most of the snow had melted or been plowed, we aren't sure which. Most of the snow had melted off the rig and the sun was actually shining. It is still going to be cold for the next couple of days but we can live with that. Tomorrow we plan on heading out to Palo Dura Canyon. Until then enjoy these pictures.
