Today we took a drive out to the Indio/Palm Desert area. We picked up our tickets at the Fantasy Springs Casino for the Trace Adkins concert on Sunday. I am really looking forward to that! After we got the tickets we drove toward Palm Desert to visit The Living Desert Zoo. First we stopped at a coffee shop to have lunch. We decided to have our bigger meal and both of us ordered the senior turkey dinner. We plan on having sandwiches for dinner.
The Living Desert is a wildlife adventure throught the deserts of the world. They have animals that are found in those deserts as well as vegetation. You can walk through the entire area or take a shuttle and get on and off. Since the walking part is around 2 miles I decided to use the shuttle. It has only been two months since my surgery so I didn't think I could walk the entire thing. It was also turning into a very warm day and I knew I wouldn't make it on my own. I was pleasantly surprised at how good I did feel when we left. Not that much pain in the knee.
On the way home we decided to take the scenic drive. This took us up and over the San Jacinto mountains. It is a twisty, turny drive up the mountain. It is hard to believe that these mountains were covered with snow just a couple of weeks ago. Some snow still exists on the highest peaks.
Here are the pictures we took. The last few have something on the lens. I don't know what it is and I have now cleaned the lens.
