Arches National Park

Saturday, May 21

This is where we spent most of today.  After we got up and got ready, I put dinner in the crockpot, fixed a lunch for us to take, and went out to breakfast.  We went to a restaurant called Jax's.  The campground recommended them.  They gave us a coupon for a breakfast special (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 pancakes) and when Bill ordered that the waitress didn't know what it was!  I ordered french toast with sausage.  The sausage was more of a dinner sausage than a breakfast one but the french toast was good.  You got 3 slices but I only ate 2.

After breakfast we drove to the entrance to Arches.  There was a line of cars waiting to get in.  A park ranger was letting people with passes use a service road and go around the line.  Yeah for a pass!  Up the road we went to see the various formations.  The weather was nice, not too warm and not too cold.

We did walk a couple of trails today.  I was proud of myself.  My knees are not bothering me but my leg muscles are sore!  One trail said it was an easy half mile but neglected to say that half of it was straight up a bunch of steps!  I think I walked about a mile and a half today.  We sat in one of the parking lots to enjoy our lunch and drink water.

After we finished the tour of Arches we made our way back to the rig and relaxed.  We had a nice light dinner that I had put in the crockpot earlier.  I mixed chicken, carrots, celery, onions and cream of chicken soup.  I baked two bowls out of puff pastry and served the chicken stuff in them.  It was really good.

After dinner I thought we were going to a contra dance and Bill thought we were going to a concert.  At breakfast when we were reading a things to do paper I saw an article for a contra dance and mentioned it to Bill.  Guess he didn't hear what I said because when I took our name tags out to put on he asked why we needed those at a concert.  Ha Ha.  We decided to go home since we weren't really dressed for a dance.

There are a lot of pictures so enjoy them.  You may want to click on the pictures to go to Picasa to see larger versions.  It looks like there is something in my camera that becomes visible when I use the zoom.  I will have to figure that out.
