President Truman

Saturday, June 4

Once again the stupid trains announced their existence from 11:00 PM to around 2:00 AM.  It continues to be hot and muggy.  It doesn't bother Bill but drives me nuts.  Our air conditioner is getting a real workout.  I hope it breaks soon.

Today we decided to visit all things Truman.  First stop was the Presidential Library and Museum.  We figured it would take the longest.

The Library is only a couple of miles from the campground.  It is a very informative and interesting.  Located in the courtyard is the final resting place of Harry and Bess Truman.

We did spend a lot of time exploring and reading about Truman's life and Presidency.

After finishing with the Library we drove over to the house that Truman lived in from the time he married Bess and it was also the Summer White House while he was in office.  With our National Park passes we could have gotten in free but you have to locate a visitor's center a couple of blocks away to get tickets and they only allow a few in at a time.  We decided not to tour the inside.

As we drove around town there were many other buildings that Truman used at one time or another.  One of the most interesting was a log cabin courthouse where he held court when he was a judge.

When we finished our touring we headed back to the campground.  Daily chores were waiting for us.  We had to get the laundry done before we leave here.  After that was done we decided to go to the movies.  We saw Pirates of the Caribbean 4.  We really enjoyed the film and the popcorn.  I was surprised the price of the popcorn was so reasonable.

Back at the rig I fixed some spaghetti for dinner and made an extra big batch so I can just reheat it in a day or so.  While we are at the next campground we won't have any water hookups so we will be using our tanks.  This way I won't need as much water to cook with.

So that is all for today.  Enjoy the pictures.

I am assuming that you DO NOT mean you hope the A/C breaks soon. LOL
