We were up bright and early today. We finished packing things away and got on the road. I forgot to take a picture of the R & R Campground but it was a good place for an overnight stay. I am not sure I would have been as happy with it if it had been warmer. Because it was so cool and windy I kept all the windows closed. If they had been open I would have noticed the traffic on the highway off ramp and the train whisles blowing. This was a PA park and was fine for our visit.
Today's drive took us through three different states. We started in South Dakota and were soon crossing the border into Minnesota, where a large portion of the day was spent. Lastly, we crossed into Iowa and drove to our current campground, Oakwood RV in Clear Lake, IA. We changed our minds a couple of times as to where we were going to stay. We finally decided on this park. We are about 15 miles away from Winnebago but we do have full hookups. It is the closest park that does. We thought about using the Winnebago parking lot, which is allowed, but they only have dry camping. There is a city park across the street but they only have electricity. Since we are here I did a load of laundry just to keep up. Hey, since I have the hookups I might as well use them.
After getting setup we drove over to Forest City, the town where Winnebago is. Bill wanted to visit an RV dealer there to pick up some parts. They didn't have everything we were interested in but since they are less than a mile from Winnebago they will get them for tomorrow afternoon. That means we will stop by after we leave the tour of the Winnebago plant.
It started clouding up and the radio said rain was coming so we headed back to Clear Lake. We did stop for dinner at a Bennigan's. We had looked for a local place that was listed in the GPS but it wasn't where it was suppose to be. That is why we chose a chain restaurant. It has been a number of years since I have been in a Bennigans. The food was fine. I really enjoyed the chicken dumpling soup we had along with our ribs.
Once back at the rig the skies opened up. Good thing we made it in time to close the window I had left open! Knock on wood, no leaks yet. We were battling moths when we were on the base. Somehow the sneaky things kept getting into the rig. So far it looks like we have defeated them. I am holding my breath for another couple of days.
We went to bed when the rain washed out the picture on the satellite dish. Tomorrow we visit the Winnebago plant. Bye for now.
