Monday & Tuesday, July 2 & 3
On Monday we decided to stay home and do some house work. We picked up a couple of things at the commissary, as it will be closed on Wednesday, did some laundry and vacuuming.
Tuesday was Bill's birthday so I made waffles for breakfast. Ok, so they were frozen waffles that all I had to do was warm up, but what the heck. We are planning on spending the day at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and probably skipping lunch so a big breakfast was called for.
The drive over was uneventful. The drivers here are as bad as Calif drivers. The speed limit on the freeway was 55, I was doing between 60-65 and still getting passed like I was standing still! Hope nobody behind me was in too much of a hurry.
The Academy is in the old part of town with really narrow roads and neat old buildings. There are also a number of one way streets so driving can be interesting. We watched the noon formation. This is where the incoming class assembles before going to lunch. The Naval Academy is where many Naval and Marine officers come from. To get in you need to study math and science and get a nomination from your congress person. You also must be physically fit and a leader.
We had a very nice visit exploring the school and the museums on campus. Here are the pictures.
We Skyped with Terry & Lydia for awhile in the evening. It was fun to catch up with them. We will be meeting in IL on the 17th of July and then traveling together for about 6 weeks.
