Finals

Saturday was the International and US Finals.  We knew if we wanted to get a good seat we would need to come early so we left the campground around 9:15 AM.  The game wasn't scheduled until 12:30!  The early game was the International game with Japan vs Panama.  The game was good and Japan won 10-2.  It was another warm day.  We are all getting a good tan. 

In the afternoon the skies started getting dark and cloudy.  There wasn't suppose to be rain but it looked like it might.  One lucky thing was that it cooled off!  The US final game was Tennessee vs Calif.  We had high hopes for our boys from Cali but in the closing innings it didn't look good.  By the bottom of the 6th we were behind by 10 runs.  We really didn't think they could overcome that score and were starting to gather our things.  Many people had left by this time.  Boy did they miss a good game.  Suddenly Calif started playing baseball!  They got a grand slam home run which brought in 4 runs.  The next batter hit another home run!  Soon their bats were hot and they were hitting all over the place.  By the end of the 6th the score was tied 15-15!  Six innings is a normal game for Little League but there are no ties in the finals so on to a 7th inning.  Our boys just couldn't hold on and went down in defeat 24-15.  But it was quite a game, lasting over 3 hours.  One for the record books. 

By the time the game was over we were very hungry and thought we would go to Red Lobster in Williamsport.  We got there and the wait was for an hour.  Nope, not waiting for that.  Next we tried Olive Garden, same thing.  We found a TGI Friday's and were able to get in (is that a comment on the food there?).  Anyway I did enjoy meal - chicken skewers with rice and veggies - and I believe the others enjoyed theirs.  Soon we were on the way home and making plans for tomorrow morning.
