Saturday and Sunday, Aug 4 - 5
Both of these days were kick back days. Saturday we decided to attend the local Farmer's Market. As we drove up to the location we all started laughing. There were 4 stands there. This is more like the Farmer's Markets we are used to seeing. Terry said, "OK, I saw it all" before we even got parked. There really wasn't much but we took a look anyway. A quick stop in the market next door and then we went down to the bigger grocery. We did pick up a couple of things there. Lydia got some country pork ribs that we took back to the RV so they could be put in the crockpot for dinner.
Once we put our groceries away we headed back out and across the bridge. We decided to take a drive across the bridge to visit Mackinaw City. The toll for a car is $4 each way. We asked about the cost for a motorhome with a tow car and that is going to be $14. Good thing we are only going across once!
Mackinaw City is a lot like St Ignace but is a bit bigger. We found the tourist downtown shopping area and checked out all the stores. We didn't find much but we did pick up a couple of little gifts. They will be mailed out soon. We had lunch before we came over so we weren't interested in food but we did decide to have some dessert before dinner. We stopped and got ice cream, of course.
While we were walking and shopping there was something going on. We weren't sure if it was a reenactment or just a demonstration. They were firing off cannons and guns. Then a group of folks dressed as Indians came down the road. They had some "captives" with them and they were going into some of the stores for "Loot". We didn't see where they finished up at but they were interesting to follow for awhile.
We also saw a Scottish Brigade who were putting on a show. I didn't get a good picture of them but here is what I did get.
Sunday we decided to go out to breakfast and headed over to a place called the Hilltop restaurant. We had noticed that this place always had a number of cars in the parking lot so we took that for a good sign. The food was good. They had a buffet that Bill, Terry and I had. Lydia had a BLT sandwich. She isn't a big breakfast eater. While we were enjoying our breakfast a car in the parking lot a car had a brief problem. We think he backed up too fast and his rear wheels jumped over the curb. That left at least one of his wheels hanging in the air. (I did mention this was a hilltop resaturant, didn't I). It must happen a lot as they brought out a wheelbarrel full of wood and finally got the car back on solid ground.
Later in the day we decided to cross the bridge again and visit Cheboygan, MI. It was a fun drive but we didn't find much. They were having a county fair but it looked like it was mostly an animal show so we didn't stop. We did locate a Walmart and picked up a couple of things we needed. We also stopped at a Hallmark store so I could check out the new ornaments. I picked up the Frosty Friends one for my Mom.
Back at the rig I made noodles and beef tips for dinner. We don't have any plans for tomorrow so it will be spent getting ready to leave on Tuesday.
That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed it.

Walmart? Stores? That is not sightseeing. It sounds like you saw some kind of historical reenactment going on. Where you headed to next?
Did you get the list of sites I sent to you via email?
Some neat places to see.
I am so envious. I will never get to travel or vacation again.
