Visiting St Igance

Wednesday, Aug 1, 2012

Today we decided to stay in and not do a lot of sightseeing.  We will be here for a week so we have plenty of time.  Today we spent doing all the important things like laundry, mopping floors, dusting, washing the car, grocery shopping, etc.  It has been awhile since either or us has done this kind of heavy duty cleaning and I know our rig absolutely needed it.

I fixed dinner for the group.  We had spaghetti and meatballs.  Lydia brought over a salad and some garlic bread.  It was a really good meal.  Now I have some leftovers for lunch.

After dinner we decided to go down to the public marina as they are having free music provided by locals.  It wasn't the best music we have ever heard but hey, it was free.

We were seated in the bleachers but it started to rain so we left after a couple of songs.  While at the marina you can see the various boats that are moored there.

There is also a lighthouse there that is open for touring.  We haven't done that yet but plan on doing it soon.

Here is one of the ferry boats to Mackinac Island.  They like to show off their "tail"

We did drive by the restaurant we had dinner at yesterday.  I tried to take a picture out the car window but it didn't turn out real well -

Our last stop of the night was at a viewpoint for the Mackinaw (or is it Mackinac?) Bridge.  We will be crossing this a couple of times.  I know we plan on visiting Mackinaw City and we will also have to cross this bridge to continue our trip south next week.

It was a very pleasant night and we slept with all the windows open instead of with the air conditioner on.  I think we both got a good nights sleep.  That is all for today.  We go on a tour tomorrow so I will have more then.  Bye for now.
