Hershey RV Show

Wednesday - Thursday, Sep 12 - 13, 2013

Wednesday morning dawned and we headed out for our last adventure here in Pennsylvania.  Today is the first day of the Hershey RV show!  It is the biggest show in the country and we like to go and check out the new floor plans and all the neat stuff they have for sale.

We weren't wowed by any of the new rigs.  In the Class A's almost everyone was showing bath and a half rigs and they were all over 40 feet long.  As someone who lives in their rig fulltime these layouts just don't work.  They have to take the space for the half bath from somewhere and that somewhere is the kitchen and storage!  I think they could make a walk-in pantry in there instead of the half bath.  The few times we have visitors or overnight guests don't make up for the wasted space.

There were plenty of vendors inside the stadium but I don't think there were as many as last year.  On the floor of the stadium there are a number of vendors and then there are a bunch around the walkways that ring the stadium.  Couldn't find anything I couldn't live without right now but we did get some info on some items we are interested in.

We had planned on sticking around and heading into Harrisburg to have dinner at Dodge City, a steak house that was done over by Robert Irvine and Restaurant Impossible.  We went there last year and really enjoyed the food and the people who own the place.  We had turkey burgers for lunch at the RV show and finished checking everything out long before dinner time.  We decided not to wait and to head back to the campground.  We had soup and split a sandwich for dinner.  The French Onion soup was really good.   Here are a few pics of the campground we have been in for the last 10 nights.

Thursday morning we got up and got ready to leave PA.  We are heading down to Front Royal, VA.  We will pass through four different states on this leg of the journey. They are Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia.  Wow.  It seems that Pennsylvania didn't want us to leave.  Just before we got to exit 3 on I81, traffic came to a stop and stayed that way.  There was some accident further down the road and traffic was stopped both North and South bound.  After about a hour we were able to make our way off the highway and go around about 7 miles to get back on.  We don't have a CB and have decided one might be handy.  All they were saying on the radio was that the road was closed in both directions but not why.

We finally did get to our campground about 45 minutes later than we planned.  We are spending the night at a Passport America park in Front Royal, VA.  It is called North Fork Campground.  Not bad for $26 a night.  This is the first time we have paid less than $30 a night for a long time.  Here are a couple of pics -

My internet connection is acting up tonight, probably because we are sort of in the mountains. I will not be able to post this until we get to the campground tomorrow.

Bye for now
