Friday - Sunday, Sept 14 - 16, 2012
We did move to another campground on Friday. We spent 2 nights at the Yogi Bear Campground in Emporia, VA. It was a nice place, kinda empty because the season is over but well taken care of. There were a lot of overnighters on Friday night but only one other rig on Saturday night. We probably will not return for one reason - trains! They are close to an active track and the trains blow their whistles at all hours. During the day I don't mind it but they woke me up at 1:30 AM and around 3:00 AM on both nights. I like to get my uninterrupted sleep.
We really didn't do much, just spending time until we head into NC on Sunday. I messed up the day count. I should have made the reservation for Saturday instead of Sunday. We did drive into Roanoke Rapids, NC for dinner on Friday. It was about 23 miles and we went to Ruby Tuesday. They have a current special of steak and lobster for $14.99. A pretty good price. That is what we both had. Since I don't exactly like lobster I gave mine to Bill. He was really happy about that.
Saturday I did a bunch of laundry and got things straightened out in the rig. We had to do the floors again as they had mowed the grass at the campground and we kept tracking it into the rig.
Sunday morning we got up to cloudy skies. It rained most of the way down to Havelock but did let up just before we got to the base. Just as Bill was finishing up with the satellite setup the skies opened up again.
We drove to Stormy's house and saw the kids, grandkids and great-grandkid. We joked with them that the only reason we came back was to get Bill's hat and we could leave now. We also gave them some Yuengling Oktoberfest beer since they can't buy it down here. We will see them a few more times before we leave on Monday the 24th.
So that brings you up to date. Have a good day.
