Frontier Days getting ready to start

July 16 - 19, 2013 Tuesday - Friday We didn't do a whole lot for the majority of the week, just things like cleaning house, laundry, defrost the fridge and shopping. This weekend things will pick up for us. On Friday we did go over to the Fort DA Russell Days. FE Warren AFB used to be called Fort DA Russell when the Army was here. They had some re-enactors for WWII, the Revolutionary War, and a few from the Indian Wars. There were not near as many displays as I thought there was going to be. There were suppose to be displays for the Korean and Vietnam wars but they were AWOL. They did have some horses they were giving rides on. We tried to find one of the demonstrations that was suppose to be at 2:00 PM but they didn't show. We decided not to wait for the 3:00 demo and left. We decided to head into town for lunch and found a diner (one of those silver ones) called Penny's Diner. It was hidden back off of the main street. I had a hamburger and shake (which I split with Bill) and Bill had a hot turkey sandwich. They were both good. My hamburger was nice and messy, just the way I like it. Afterward we headed back to the base to rest. We had decided to go to the movies at 6:00 and see The Man Of Steel. Turns out it was 3D so it cost us $3.50 each instead of $2.50. They were running late and the movie didn't start until around 6:25. Don't know what happened but that meant we missed the playing of the National Anthem (which is done at all movies on a military base) and the coming attractions. I think we even missed the first couple of minutes of the movie. We got sound first and it sounded like an X-rated movie as Superman's mother was giving birth. Imagine those sounds without a picture. They finally got everything corrected and we saw the rest of the movie. It was just OK. Either the 3D effects were bad, the projector was bad or our glasses were bad as most of the background on every shot was blurry. Guess you get what you pay for. After the movie we went back to the rig and that was the end of the day.
