Rodeo

Aug 13, 2013  Tuesday

We decided to go to the Cody Cattle Company for dinner last night.  It is one of those cowboy music/dinner show places.  We were able to get a combo ticket that included admission to the Cody Nightly Rodeo.  The dinner is served buffet style and included, salad, beans, potatoes, applesauce, cole slaw, beef, chicken, corn bread, brownies, and a drink.  It is getting later in the season so they were not full but there was a nice crowd.

The band had Mom, Dad (fiddle player) and their 14 year old son.  The fourth member of the band was a friend.  There were 3 other kids who came onstage at one time or another.  The music was a little more modern that we expected but was good anyway.  We really enjoyed it.

After dinner we headed down the road to the Cody Rodeo grounds.  Based on what our friend, Terry, told us, we sat in the Buzzards Roost.  This is the side closest to the chutes.  Cody holds this rodeo every night during the summer.  It was a good night for the horses and cattle as the cowboys had a hard time staying on board!  In fact during the bull riding nobody stayed on the full 8 seconds.  Just a bad night for the cowboys and cowgirls.  We really enjoyed ourselves.  The weather was cloudy but no rain came so it was a cool night instead of a hot one.

They played a game with the kids in the audience but having everyone 12 and under come out.  They then released 2 calves with ribbons on their tail.  The object was to claim a ribbon.  The calves were really fast and avoided the kids for a long time.  It was really cute to see them running around.

That was our day.  We had a good time and I hope you enjoy all the pictures.
