Today we took off to go visit Lake Louise. It is about an hour drive from where we are staying. The drive was nice. The lake is very beautiful. It is a glacier fed lake, meaning all the water comes from melting glaciers. I think I got some good shots.
There is a very nice looking hotel right on the lake. I bet those rooms cost a pretty penny.
We spent some time walking around a portion of the lake and then through the hotel. Soon we were back on the road. Our next stop was about 14 km away at Moraine Lake. It is another glacier fed lake but isn't as pretty as Lake Louise.
We decided to have our picnic lunch here. It took a bit before we found an empty bench but we did and enjoyed the lunch we packed.
Back on CA1 we headed north of Lake Louise toward a waterfall we heard about. Before we got to the waterfall we came upon the Twisted Tunnels. These are tunnels that the trains use to go up the mountains. We got lucky and a train when through while we were there. Here is an example of how they work and a couple of pictures.
Soon we were back on the road to the waterfall. We were afraid that the waterfall might not be much since it is so late in the season but were pleasantly surprised with is view -
On the way back we stopped at the place where the Yolo and Kicking Horse rivers meet. The Yolo is white instead of clear because of all glacier silt it has. The Kicking Horse comes from a glacier also but by the time it reaches the Yolo it has cleared up. I don't think the pictures show it too clear but I tried.
I am running out of battery power now so I will finish for tonight. Enjoy all the pictures I took.

We spent a night in the Lake Louise hotel when it had started snowing and it was not too badly priced but that was a number of years ago.
