Returning to the states

Sept 11-12, 2013 Wed-Thursday

Wednesday we drove about 200 miles from Clearwater, BC, Canada to Hope, BC, Canada.  We spent some time in Hope back in Sept of 2009 on our trip back from Alaska.  We are staying in the same campground but are in one of the pull through sites up front.  I forgot to take a picture but here is one from 2009 -

We drove around town a bit after dinner and stopped to have some ice cream for dessert.  It is a lot hotter here than it was in Jasper.  I think it was in the high 80's.  The night cooled down nicely.  There were a lot of bugs that we ran into on the drive.  Bill is going to wait until we get to Ft Lewis before cleaning it.

We decided to cross the border at Sumas, WA this time instead of Lynden, WA where we crossed in 2009.  The signs said the wait was about 30 minutes.  We decided to time it and it was 1 hour and 20 minutes before we crossed.  They really didn't ask much and didn't ask anything about fruit and veggies.

The drive was fine until we hit I5 and got closer to Seattle.  OMG!  The traffic was horrible!  We decided to take I405 around the city but that way was packed too.  We really haven't been driving in a big city in months.  I think Phoenix was the last big city we were in.  My nerves didn't do too good today but I guess I have to get used to traffic again.

We finally made it Ft Lewis, WA.  It is just south of Tacoma.  We will be here for a week.  There are a lot of trees so we can't use our satellite dish, neither the one on the coach or the freestanding one.  The campground has cable but you have to check out a cable box to use it.  That is weird.  At least it doesn't cost anything.  I am going to take pictures tomorrow or the next day.  There is a small lake behind our site and I would like to rent a boat one day and cruise the lake.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning for my car to see if the Suzuki place can fix it.  There is still a squeal when I start it, but it does seem to only happen when I turn on the air conditioner.  They are also going to change my oil for me.  We will go out to breakfast after dropping the car off.

One thing I have learned this portion of the trip is that I do not have to have 50 amps to run my washer/dryer.  It only draws 13 amps so as long as I am careful I can do laundry when we have 30 amps.

So that is all for now.  Have a good day.
