After sleeping in for a bit we got ready and headed south to Pismo Beach. We like to walk around the town and visit the shops. There didn't seem to be as many shops as there used to be. We did walk out on the pier and watched the ocean for a bit. There were surfers out but it was cold and they were all in wetsuits.
There was this guy and a lot of his friends on the pier.
One of our reasons for coming here was to have pizza. We have been here a few times before and always had pizza at a place called Clamenza's. That restaurant closed and then it became something with a name like Bella Luna or something. It has been PizMo for the last 5 years (gee thought we had been here since then). We had lunch there anyway and the pizza was still good.
We drove down the coast a bit and stopped at the Pismo Beach Butterfly Grove. This is a place where each years millions of Monarch Butterflies come. The normal time is between November and February. We decided, what the heck, and stopped to check it out. There were butterflies there! Soon there will be a lot more but this is the first time we have stopped and actually saw them!
On our way back to our motorhome we made a quick side trip to Avila Beach. Years ago, when our son was around 12, we stayed in this place for a week .
We had a good time walking through the town. It sure has grown up from when we stayed here.
We skipped dinner as the pizza we had in Pismo and the ice cream we had in Avila Beach filled us up. We had a good time visiting. Here are all the pictures I took.
