We were not in a hurry this morning as we only had about 145 miles to go. We got lucky and it didn't rain last night so the ground was dry. We did stop at a local gas station to top off the tank. We will be taking back roads most of the time for the next couple of days so we won't have to hunt down a place where we can get fuel.
As we were driving up US71 in Iowa we saw a sign for Albert. Who is Albert? Albert The Bull. He is a 30 foot tall cement bull. He was built in 1963 and is a replica of a perfect Hereford bull. We didn't stop so I didn't get a picture but you can follow the link I posted to get the full story.
Most of our drive was through cornfields and cattle ranches. But since Iowa is famous for their corn fed beef I guess that is what they grow around here.
We are now at a city park in Storm Lake, IA. It is a very nice park and has over 100 sites. We have full hookups and cable here and the price is only $23. Actually the sites determine the price but the most expensive site is $25. We are in row 3 and can see the lake as there is nobody in front of us. One odd thing is that the surrounding trees must be cottonwood trees as it is snowing white fuzzy stuff.
We have been looking for a battery to put in the remote door/compartment lock thingy. We keep looking for a size 32 but when we couldn't find one we double checked and it was really size 23! Oops. Anyway, we drove into town to check it out and stopped at Walmart to get the battery. I also found a pair of slip on tennis shoes and Bill got some black jeans to replace the ones that have gotten old.
Back at the campground we met our neighbors and talked for a bit. Then I went inside and fixed dinner. We had smoked pork chops and sweet potatoes, yummy.
We drive over to Winnebago tomorrow and get set for our appointment on Wednesday morning. We will only have power there so we filled up the fresh water tonight and will dump the holding tanks tomorrow. We will probably eat out while we are there. I hope it doesn't take a long time to get things done and it doesn't cost too much.
We are not suppose to have rain until Wednesday so hopefully we can get settled in before it hits.
Here are some pictures of the campground and lake. Enjoy.
