Exploring Fort Smith

Saturday, July 12, 2014

So we got up this morning and got ready to go out.  I found a Farmer's Market in town and wanted to go see what they had.  There were a number of booths there and a lot of veggie.  I got some tomatoes and corn but there weren't any watermelons.  Guess I will still have to wait for those.  There were a lot of people selling squash and green tomatoes or cherry tomatoes but only a few with regular ones.  You could also get greens like kale and some fresh herbs.

After the market we drove to a place called Sutherlands which is a hardware store.  We picked up a couple of things that Bill wanted.  On our way back to the campground we thought we would stop by the Elvis barbershop museum.  According to the internet they are suppose to be open.  (Also according to the sign on the door) but they were closed.  This site is no longer on the base as this portion has been given to the city.  Here is the outside.

We headed back to the campground after that.  I took a couple of pics of the place but it looks like I hit a bad button as they came out in black and white.

While I was doing this Bill went in the rig and then came back out.  The air conditioner wasn't working again.  Major bummer as it is suppose to be around 95 today.  This site doesn't get shade until the late afternoon.  I called Wheelan's RV and told them so we will head back tomorrow and get connected in their back lot again.  They will look at it on Monday morning.  We have to go back there due to the warranty.   If we go anywhere else the extended warranty people won't pay anything, we would have to pay everything out of pocket.  I guess once they get it fixed we will hang around another day or so just to make sure before heading out.  Luckily, we are only 140 miles away.

So we hung out in the oppressive heat and humidity for the rest of the day.  A little breeze would be nice but I don't think that is going to happen.  We moved outside for a good chunk of the day.  I am really happy now that I bought the tabletop fan last week.  It is what makes it bearable to be inside.  We did decide to go to a movie in the afternoon to help with the heat.  We saw Earth to Echo.  It is an interesting movie.  Kind of a home movie based on ET.  I would recommend seeing it.

I did fix unstuffed cabbage rolls for dinner and made a large batch so that we can just heat the leftovers up for dinner this next week.  The refrigerator isn't happy with the heat but I am doing the best I can.  I am circulating the blue ice packs between the freezer and the refrigerator, especially my shots.  Hopefully everything will work out and it won't be too long before we are on our way again.
