Finally on the road again

Monday-Tuesday, June 30-July 1, 2014

We were up early and waiting at the door to the service department by 7:00 AM.  They are going to work on the bay doors and the dash air.  We were still waiting for the part for the hose reel.  Later in the day we had a visit from Jake, our service advisor.  He had called the reel company and they hadn't shipped the part.  They have to make it and couldn't find the spec sheets.  They won't be able to get it done until after the 4th.  We decided that once Jake gets it he will ship the part to us.  We can then decide to do it ourselves, pay someone else to install it or wait until October to have Winnebago install it.  That will be decided once we see the part.  They did finish the bay door locks, turns out all the actuators had frozen in the locked position and a couple of relays had been burned out.  It appears we got a shock of some type when we were at Tucalota Springs.  That is where all the trouble started.  They didn't get everything finished but we will be done tomorrow morning.

It rained all day Monday, and some of it was pretty strong.  There are major problems south of us.  They had hail, flooding and tornado warnings.  In the evening we decided to drive over to a neighboring town to have dinner.  There is a place called the Branding Iron.  Monday is their prime rib night.  The food was really good.  You got to visit the soup and salad bar, have prime rib and a potato all for $17.95.  I know that sounds like a lot but the prime rib was at least 12 ounces and about 2 inches thick!  It was perfectly cooked, and so tender it was like butter.  We really enjoyed joking around with some of the other people who drove over from Winnebago.  They didn't have a big crowd but we think that was because of the weather.

Tuesday morning we once again got up early and headed down to the service area.  They finished the work and we were out of there by 10:30 AM.  We had gone out to breakfast once we dropped off the rig.  Actually, each morning we have had to drop off the rig we have gone over to Sally's to have breakfast.  Lunch was usually a Subway sandwich and we only went out to dinner the one time.  We did have Linner at Bill's Grocery once.

Soon we were on the road and headed to Kellogg, Iowa.  We are staying here until Sunday so that we are out of the way for the holiday.  This campground is further away from I-35 than I would have liked but I was just happy to get a spot.  With the schedule changing at Winnebago all the time I couldn't call ahead too far in advance.  There isn't much to do in town but I think I will find a few things.  The Amana colonies are about an hour away and there is a model train museum.  I will probably find other things too.  I haven't been able to find anyplace close that has fireworks.

So that is where we are at right now.  We have to work on our schedule and figure out where we are going from here.  We have to be in Havelock, NC by the 2nd.  After that, who knows.

Take care and have a good day.
