Lockdown!

We decided that we would wait until after lunch to head into town and visit the Clinton Presidential Library and a couple other places.  We had a good lunch and was getting ready to head out when we heard, "Lockdown, Lockdown, shelter in place, this is real world."  What!?!  They had been having some safety exercises all morning but that "real world" meant it wasn't an exercise.  Also a really loud and long siren sounded,  This kept repeating every few minutes.  So we sat in our rig and tried to figure out what was going on.

After a bit I saw a MP (or security in full riot gear) guy with a K9 patrolling the road outside the campground.  Eventually a female security member came by and asked if we had seen anything suspicious or a black guy, dressed in black, and carrying a rifle.  Nope but we would keep our eyes open.  About an hour later 2 security guys came by.  These two had rifles and one stood in front of the rig and one stood to the side of the door then knocked.  He asked if we knew what was going on and I said that someone had already been around.  Interesting feeling to have two rifles pointed at you.  So we just spent the rest of the day listening to that annoying siren that kept going off every so often.  I looked on the internet to see what info the news reporters had and they didn't have anything we didn't already know.  It started around 11:45 AM and ended at 4:05 PM.  By this time the library was almost closed and so were the other tourist attractions, so we just stayed at home.  Isn't it funny that when you don't care if you go outside, you don't want to but when you can't you really want to?


Oh, and after they lifted the lockdown?  It started pouring down rain!  We still couldn't leave the rig!



We will have to come back to Little Rock one day to see the library and things.  We will also have to visit Hot Springs which is close.  Tomorrow we head to Memphis.
