Marion, NC

Thursday, July 31, 2014

I am not sure if July went fast or slow.  There were parts of both this month.  Today we drove from Lenoir City, TN to Marion, NC.  When we are in this area we stay at Tom Johnson's RV Center.  It is an RV dealer who does service and has a large campground.  You don't have to be in for service, or have purchased your RV from them, to use the campground.  The price is $30 a night and it is in a gated area.  I have always felt very safe here.  Bill likes it as he can walk around and check out the RV's they have for sale.  They always seem to have a lot of rigs for sale.  Bill saw a number he would have like to go in but since he couldn't go out for a walk until after hours he didn't get to go in them.

About 20 miles after crossing into North Carolina it started to rain and it rained off and on the rest of the day.  There were a couple of times when it would stop for an hour or so but started right back up.  It rained most of the night, too.

I decided we were going out to dinner tonight so we went to a local chain called Fatz.  They only have places in NC, SC, GA and other southern states.  I want to say they are like a Coco's or Applebee's but that would be an insult.  The food was really, really good.  When the waitress found out it was our first visit to a Fatz she brought each of us a chicken finger sample of their fried chicken.  It was excellent.  I decided I had too much fried food lately and decided on the Parmesan crusted white fish.  It was served with rice and veggies and I loved it.  Bill had a steak which was cooked perfectly and a HUGE baked sweet potato.  Fatz also served rolls that were almost doughnut like.  They were fried and sprinkled with sugar and could be addicting.  We declined dessert but she said we got it free.  We got a peach cobbler with ice cream for free!  Fatz really knows how to treat its customers.  If you are ever near one I highly recommend them.

Because of the weather we didn't do much today.  Only a few more days until we reach Cherry Point.
