We arrived Saturday around 1:00 PM, in the rain, found our site from the list and settled in. Pelican Point is the new campground here on Cherry Point. It is a very nice place, especially compared to the old campground. We have a back-in site on the outside rim, close to the bathhouse/laundry room. We can also see the river through the trees. These pictures were taken on Friday (as it was the first day without rain).
Later in the afternoon we went over to Stormy and Bryant's house to visit everyone. It was good to see them. Nelson has sure grown a lot.
Sunday we spent some more time with the family and Bryant smoked a nice pork shoulder for dinner. We picked up some hush puppies and cole slaw from Smithfield's. Bill's first NC hush puppies. We used Facetime to talk to Nick, Aimee and Rory in the evening. It was good to talk to them, too. Can't wait until they come out on the 21st.
Monday night was Ashley's graduation from Medical Assistant's school. We met her and Phil at their house and then went to dinner with them and Nelson before the ceremony. We went to a little pizza and pasta place in New Bern. After that we met up with everyone at the hospital auditorium where the pinning ceremony would take place. We are so proud of her.
During the week Bill and I did exciting things like the laundry and some heavy duty cleaning that we have been putting off. I defrost the freezer and cleaned out the fridge. We also did things like cleaning the windows and screens. You know, all those chores everyone loves. We did do a little exploring around the base and town to see what has changed in the last two years. The old campground has had all the hookups removed and it looks like they are leaving it as a grassy area. There is a new Chinese place and a Five Guys burger shop that I guess we will have to try one of these days. It has been raining off and on all week. Everything is damp and I am tired of it. If only we could find a way to take this rain back to Calif!
One of the odd things about the sites at the campground are the hookups. As you can see from this picture the water and power is toward the middle of the rig and the sewer is way in the back. That might work for trailers and 5th wheels but it requires motorhomes to have long cords and hoses.
So that is all for now. I hope you have a good week. Here are all the pictures I took of the campground.
