Route 66

Thursday, Oct 23, 2014

Longer drive today, with 239 miles.  We started out just over the border in Oklahoma and soon crossed into Texas.  Usually it takes forever to cross Texas.  Today didn't seem that bad.  When we pulled out there was a lot of fog and it lasted of a good chunk of the drive.  It finally burned off and the weather was good.

We are stopped along old Route 66 in Tucumcari, NM.  This town has seen better days.  We are at the Cactus RV Park.  It is fine for an overnight.  Not much here.  Because we gained an hour when we crossed into New Mexico, we got into the park.  We decided to go out for lunch at Del's Restaurant just down the street.  It has been in business since 1959.  The food was good and we enjoyed it.  They actually had coconut meringue pie.  I got a piece to take home and it was very good.
We head into Albuquerque tomorrow and we will be staying for two days at Kirkland AFB.  I am going to check into getting a new Kindle.

Here are my pics today
