Carlsbad, NM days 2 and 3

Saturday - Sunday, May 9-10, 2015
Carlsbad Caverns, NM

Saturday morning we all got together to head towards the Caverns.  We planned on stopping for breakfast and found a place called Happy's.  It isn't a fancy place.  In fact you ordered at a counter and the food was served on paper plates.  The food was good, at least what I ate.  I wasn't feeling good so barely ate.  After breakfast I decided that I wasn't going to make it to the caverns.  Bill and I took one of the cars and left.  The other four continued on with the day.  We went to the ER and it was determined that I had a really bad case of acid re-flux.  They gave me a GI cocktail and took some tests.  I do feel better and I hope this is the last of it.  We just stayed home the rest of the day and rested.

On Sunday, the others decided to drive into Roswell for the day.  We decided to head down to the caverns.  Since we would be by ourselves we would be able to walk at my speed and take our time.  Since we have passes it didn't cost anything to get in the park but we did rent this recorders that talked about the various sites.  The caverns are amazing.  They are huge!  And they are beautiful.  We spent about 2 hours there and I took a lot of pictures.  Remember, you can double click on the pictures to take you to a bigger version of the slideshow.  Here they are -


For dinner tonight we decided to go out to eat.  Turns out most of the restaurants in the towns close by closed by 3:00 PM so we wound up at a Chinese Restaurant.  The food wasn't very good but it is our first restaurant failure.  Maybe we should have gone to Denny's.

Tomorrow we head out and into Texas.  I just hope we don't hit too much bad weather.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.
