League City, TX
Galveston, TX
We awoke to rain this morning. Not a light mist, but a full rain. We had planned on leaving around 10:00 to head to Galveston. In our area the rain did let up about then but we ran into heavy downpour on the drive. We drove around the city to see what we could see. We originally planned on taking a tour of town but the rain kept us from doing that. We finally located the Moody Mansion and took a tour. It is one of the original mansions on the island and has been redone to reflect the past and opened to the public. The tour was about 1 1/2 hours long. A bit long for me, as it is a lot of standing around, which is hard for me. But the tour was interesting. We couldn't take pictures inside so I only have a couple of the outside and some cars in the garage.
We did stop long the beach and took a couple of pictures of the bay. There were actually people in the water even though there were red flag warnings.
After the tour we tried to get into a restaurant called Fisherman's Wharf but we couldn't find any parking. We drove around town until we found some parking and ate at a place called Fish Tales. I was surprised to find out is part of the Landry's family of restaurants. I was surprised because the food was not good. Bill had clam chowder that he said should have been called bacon chowder. I had fried catfish that was not good. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
After we ate we drove back to the campground. Bill and I had to stop at the grocery store so we drove back by ourselves. We hung around the rigs for the rest of the day. That is all. Enjoy the pictures.
