Lexington, SC
Happy Birthday to my Dad!
We were both up early this morning and we got ready to visit the flea market. The buildings are fairly large and I expected more than was really there. In comparing it to the swap meet in Costa Mesa, it was definitely a flea market. It was mostly stuff collected by people and put out for sale. We didn't buy anything. There were a few people with veggies and fruits for sale but the one I talked to wouldn't allow me to only buy 4 tomatoes instead of the 6-8 she had in buckets. We wanted to go early because of the heat forecast for today, another 90 + degree day. It didn't take us long to go through it.
After walking back to the rig and cooling down for a few minutes we headed out to visit Woodrow Wilson's boyhood home in Columbia, about 8 miles away. We found the house but couldn't figure out how to buy tickets. We finally found the gift shop a block or so away in the historic district and got our tickets. We had a personalized tour of the house since it was only the 2 of us. The tour guide was good and we enjoyed it. Most of the tour centered around Reconstruction with how it might have impacted Wilson's teenage years. No pictures were allowed but I got a few of the outside.
There were a couple of other houses in the historic district that we didn't tour but I did take pictures of.
After our tour we headed back to the campground. We decided to stop and have a sandwich at the Firehouse Subs that I saw on the way out. The sandwich was good but the service was not. I don't know if they got invaded just before we got there or what but everyone had a wait a long time to get their sandwiches. We will have to try another one to see if the service is better.
Here are all the pictures I took today.
