New Bern, NC Days 19-22

Friday - Monday, 7/31 - 8/03/2015
New Bern, NC

When we returned from the repair work last Thursday we had to move to another site.  We originally moved over from site 28 to site 30.  It didn't seem like a problem.  It was just like our other site.  Turns out that the trees behind the site were just tall enough to block the satellite access!  Since the office was already closed we had to stay there for the night.  We just used their cable to watch TV.  The next morning we went down to the office and talked to the lady there.  We moved to site 16 which is a pull-through site.  It is in the middle of the campground and there is no problem with satellite access here.  We are just on the other side of the laundry room.

The weather for the next couple of days is iffy.  There is rain forecast every day.

On Friday night we decided to go crabbing with Stormy and Bryant.  They picked us up around 10:00 in the morning.  There is a dock close to the campground that they can tie up at and we can board.  It started out as a warm day.  We started crabbing and didn't get a lot of hits where we were so we moved a bit.  While anchored here I took a turn at it.  I caught a few really big crabs!  While we were having fun we noticed rain heading our way.  We thought it wouldn't be too bad but we got wave after wave.  We all huddled under the cover but still got wet.  What the heck, we were having fun.  After the rain passed we had a lot of luck with the crabbing.  When that petered out we tried one more spot then headed in.  We got about 15 crab that we kept.  We got a few more that were too small to keep.

When we returned to the dock there was a baby alligator there.  It was in the water and I tried to take a picture of it.  It wasn't afraid of us, it just sat there and stared.  We think it wanted us to feed it.  The pictures aren't very good but here they are.

We will be leaving here on Thursday morning so I have been making reservations at the next few campgrounds.  Our current schedule puts us in Seal Beach on the 15th of Oct.  That is, of course, subject to change.

I hope you had a good few days.
