Tucumcari, NM
Notice that the city changed? Yeah!!!
We were up early and at the Freightliner dealer by 7:00 AM. The part didn't arrive until about 11:00 - 11:30 but this is a first come, first serve place so we needed to be there and in line so that they would work on our rig as soon as the part arrived. We spent the day in the drivers lounge with a few drivers. One of them had a little rat terrier that Lola played with throughout the day. And the got along well.
The work on the rig didn't take long but the paperwork took forever. I think the mechanic went to lunch before he filled out and turned it into the office. Then they had to contact our insurance company for payment. Then the insurance company was taking a long time to send the payment. I finally got tired of it and called the insurance company. They had an issue with the mileage again so I firmly told them to read the notes and that I had done everything they asked for over a year ago. I told them we wouldn't have this problem each time if they would get someone in their IT department to change the file to show the new mileage instead of the old. Gee, the payment came within 30 minutes of that call. The Freightliner guy thanked me for helping out.
We got to the Flying J and filled up and on the road by 4:00 PM. We had about 176 miles to get to Tucumcari. Fortunately, the traffic was light and we made good time. We pulled into the campground right at 7:00 PM. We are parked out front at Cactus RV on route 66. We have stopped here many times before. The lady who owns the place said she was happy we made it in. She remembered the story from Friday, when the others were here and waiting for us. We like this park and will be back again.
Since it was so late we decided to walk next door to the restaurant. We have eaten here before and the food was good. We enjoyed it this time too. We ate at Del's Restaurant.
After we returned to the rig Bill walked Lola then we settled in for a quiet evening. We are heading to bed early as we have a long day tomorrow driving. We have to make up for lost time. If it weren't for the tickets we have to see Sara Evans in Branson on Friday night we would not hurry but the tickets are bought and paid for so a long day of driving tomorrow.
We plan on stopping in Sayre, OK then Checotah, OK, then into Branson on Friday. At least we will have 9 days of resting there.
So we are back on the road and knock on wood, everything seems to be working fine now. Have a good night.
