Cheyenne, WY
FE Warren AFB Famcamp
I forgot to post yesterday so this will cover yesterday and today.
We got up and got ready to leave. We were on the road by 9:30. It was a straight drive on I-80 until we hit Cheyenne. We crossed into the Mountain time zone about 100 miles from the border. Our drive today was about 220 miles. The rest stop we planned on using was full so we had to go another hour to hit an open one. Nebraska rest stops only have a few trucks parking sites so they fill up quickly. Lola wasn't happy, when we slowed down to pull into the rest area she assumed she was going for a walk. When we had to pull back on the freeway and speed back up she looked so sad!
We made it to the campground without any problems. As we drove from the gate to the campground Bill kept saying, "I remember that!" Last time we were here we were able to use the front gate. They now require rigs to use the commercial gate. Not a big deal but the GPS does try to take you in the front gate.
Our site is a bit odd. It is a pull-in instead of a back-in or pull-through site. It is an older site and the hookups are on the wrong side if you back-in. While we were setting up a maintenance person came over and told us not to hook up the water. They were replacing a water pipe and were waiting to find out if it was done correctly or not. Later in the day they told us the water was fine.
After getting setup we had a quick lunch of leftover spaghetti then Bill and I headed to the commissary. I needed to stock up on a lot of things. I was surprised that my bill came to exactly $100. I couldn't do that again if I tried. My freezer has been empty since the fridge went out. I bought a lot of meat and veggies.
We didn't do much in the evening. Even gaining an hour didn't slow the day down. We had BLT's for dinner and then off we went to bed.
Wednesday morning I heard morning wake up call at 7:30 so I got up and made a nice breakfast. Scrambled eggs was on the menu.
After Bill walked Lola we decided to go to the Exchange to get a few things. Turns out they didn't have any of the things I needed. It is a small Exchange. So off we went to Walmart. More things became familiar as we drove through town. We were last here in July of 2013 and spent a month so we went a lot of places. I was able to get everything but one thing at Walmart.
It was a relaxing day in the afternoon. It was warm in the early afternoon but cooled off when the skies got dark. it didn't rain but it did look like it wanted to.
I fixed sauerkraut and sausages for dinner. It is a meal Bill likes once in awhile.
Time to settle back and watch some TV.
